Learning A New Language
Posted by Courtney Peterson on August 4th, 2010I cannot help smiling when I browse the Internet or I visit a book store and I see one of those language guides that say something like:”Learn Japanese in 7 days”. Trying to reduce the time a new language takes to learn it’s natural and everyone would like to do that.
But reducing it to a blink of an eye it’s a fairytale. It’s important to not throw yourself in a mindless quest like the one of looking for language guides that can teach you a language in one week, because such guides do not really exist. The only way is to learn the language properly and in time.
The best way to learn a new language is online. Of course, a real life course held by a teacher can be useful also, but such a course requires you to go to certain locations and most of the times you can’t decide your own schedule. It’s hard to go to such a class when you don’t feel well, you don’t fell like learning or you have other more important things to do. If you decide to learn a new language online then all these worries disappear. When you feel like learning you can simply click and continue the lesson you started yesterday.
You should try to divide your learning session in a couple of small parts over a longer period of time because it’s better to learn for one hour each day for 5 months than to learn 6 hours a day for one. Learning bit by bit will allow information to be remembered and understood easier and you won’t have to worry about tiredness or over-solicitation. Some people copy even learn a bit by listening to music on ipod, turning the ipod portable speakers at a reasonable level so they can carry on with other activities. You must not forget about this, failing to do so will return unfortunate results.
Learning and having fun at the same time is a real treat. If we thing something is amusing, then our brains will response by assimilating that information fast. If you don’t have a lot of free time and you don’t feel like starting an online course just yet, those 10 minutes of play during your lunch break will do all the difference. It’s obvious that you will take a lot longer to learn the respective language, but this doesn’t mean that it will be a lot of work.
